COOS COUNTY, Ore. (Dec. 24, 2025) — A 29-year-old Myrtle Point woman was killed Monday evening after being struck by a pickup truck on Highway 42 in Coos County, according to Oregon State Police.
Troopers responded to the crash at about 5:19 p.m. Dec. 22 near milepost 20. A preliminary investigation found that a white Ford Ranger traveling eastbound on the highway struck a pedestrian who was standing in the travel lane for an unknown reason.
The pedestrian, identified as Faith Scarlet Rose Andersen, 29, of Myrtle Point, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The driver of the Ford Ranger, Crystal Leann Joffroy, 45, of Coos Bay, was not injured. Authorities said the highway was not impacted during the on-scene investigation.
Oregon State Police were assisted by the Myrtle Point Police Department, Myrtle Point Fire Department and the Oregon Department of Transportation. The investigation is ongoing.
The crash is being investigated with the assistance of the Oregon State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit, a specialized team that examines fatal and critical injury collisions on Oregon highways using advanced documentation and analysis techniques.
