PHOENIX, Ore. (Dec. 21, 2025) — Dumpling, a 4-year-old spayed female Rottweiler, is this week’s featured adoptable pet at the Jackson County Animal Shelter. True to her name, Dumpling is described by shelter staff as soft, round and delightful, with a friendly and affectionate personality. She enjoys being around people and is known for her constantly wagging stub tail and her fondness for close contact, often placing her paws in laps to give what staff call “hugs.”
Shelter officials say Dumpling previously lived with children and has done well with them, though any children in a home should be respectful during her mealtimes, as she prefers space while eating. Dumpling takes treats gently, knows basic commands such as sit, shake and lie down, and walks well on a leash, though she may pull when excited. She has participated successfully in dog-to-dog playgroups, particularly with male dogs, and potential adopters with other dogs are encouraged to schedule a meet and greet. Due to prior history, Dumpling should not be placed in a home with cats, chickens or other small animals.
Dumpling has a high energy level and would do best with an active person or family committed to regular exercise to support her health and happiness. She loves treats, playtime and exploring, and will require supervision outdoors due to a history of escaping doors or fences. The shelter recommends that interested adopters research the Rottweiler breed before bringing her home.
Adoption means embarking on a shared adventure filled with learning, unforgettable experiences, and the warm companionship of these lively dogs. The shelter encourages individuals interested in meeting and potentially adopting these lovable animals to reach out. Contact the shelter at 541-774-6654, press 5 for adoptions, and start the process of welcoming these sweethearts into your loving home.
