
EUGENE, Ore. (Nov 13, 2025) — Two Mexican nationals accused of being in the United States illegally have been charged in federal court with trafficking more than 70 pounds of methamphetamine after an Oregon State Police K9 traffic stop on Interstate 5 in Lane County, authorities said Wednesday.
Alejandra Diaz-Alcantar, 45, and Juan Alberto Alvarado-Gonzalez, 31, are charged by criminal complaint with conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of a mixture or substance containing methamphetamine, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon.
According to court documents, an Oregon State Police K9 trooper stopped a white Chevrolet pickup on I-5 as part of an ongoing investigation. After obtaining a search warrant, investigators searched the vehicle and found two duffel bags under the rear passenger seat. Inside were 56 plastic bags and bindles of suspected methamphetamine weighing approximately 72 pounds.
The Drug Enforcement Administration is investigating the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph Huynh is prosecuting.
Officials emphasized that a criminal complaint is only an accusation and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
