Jackson County Court Hands Down 30-Year Sentence in Child Sexual Abuse Case

MEDFORD, Ore. (Nov. 6, 2025) — A local man has been sentenced to more than 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple child sexual abuse charges, the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office announced Thursday.

Justin Atto, 32, pleaded guilty to Unlawful Sexual Penetration in the First Degree, Sodomy in the First Degree, and three counts of Using a Child in Display of Sexually Explicit Conduct. He was sentenced to 370 months — just over 30 years — in the Oregon Department of Corrections, followed by lifetime post-prison supervision.

Prosecutors said Atto’s sentence falls under Oregon’s Measure 11 mandatory minimum sentencing law, meaning he will serve the full term without the possibility of early release. He was also ordered to register as a sex offender.

The investigation began after law enforcement received a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), reporting that an image involving sexually explicit material of a juvenile had been uploaded online. Detectives with the Southern Oregon Child Exploitation Team traced the upload to Atto. A subsequent search of his electronic devices uncovered additional images, including those showing Atto sexually abusing a child.

Detective Rogers of the Medford Police Department was present during Atto’s plea hearing. The victim’s mother also addressed the court, speaking about the lasting impact the crimes have had on her and her child.

Senior Deputy District Attorney Lucy Durst and Deputy District Attorney Brannon Schwab prosecuted the case on behalf of the state.
