Medford, Oregon- A Jackson County man was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges related to sexual abuse and child exploitation, prosecutors announced Friday.
Korrey Johnson, 38, pled guilty on May 2 in two separate cases to one count of first-degree sexual abuse and three counts of first-degree encouraging child sex abuse, according to the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office.
Jackson County Circuit Court Judge Lisa Greif Ravassipour followed the prosecution’s recommendation and sentenced Johnson to 120 months in the Oregon Department of Corrections, to be followed by 75 months of post-prison supervision. Johnson is also required to register as a sex offender, submit to DNA and HIV testing, pay restitution to the victim, and forfeit an electronic device involved in the case.
Senior Deputy District Attorney Lucy Durst prosecuted the cases.
The investigation began in 2020 and intensified in 2023 when the victim’s mother brought her to the Jackson County Children’s Advocacy Center for a forensic interview. The victim disclosed sexual abuse that occurred in 2017 when Johnson, a family friend, allegedly assaulted her.
Johnson was arrested in September 2024 and charged with unlawful sexual penetration in the second degree and first-degree sex abuse in connection with the 2017 incident.
In October 2024, investigators located a tablet belonging to Johnson at his residence. Authorities said the device was believed to contain images of child exploitation. A search warrant was granted by Judge Charles Kochlacs, and the Southern Oregon High Tech Crimes Task Force later confirmed the presence of child pornography on the tablet. Data linking the device to Johnson was also recovered.
Johnson was subsequently charged with multiple counts of encouraging child sex abuse related to the digital evidence.
He will serve his sentence in state prison.
