Medford, Oregon- A prolonged weather system is set to bring significant precipitation and cold temperatures to southern Oregon and northern California over the next several days. According to meteorologists, snow levels will steadily decline, with potential snowfall reaching valley floors west of the Cascades by Monday morning. A Winter Storm Warning has also been issued for Jackson County.
Snowfall Forecasts and Low Temperatures
The National Blend of Models predicts that snow levels will initially fall to around 2,000 feet on Sunday before dropping as low as 500 feet by Monday morning. The Rogue Valley floor faces a 15% chance of snowfall, with varying estimates for specific locations:
• Medford: Up to 2-3 inches
• Grants Pass: Approximately 1.5 inches
• Illinois Valley: Up to 3 inches
• Roseburg: About 0.5 inches
The weather system is expected to continue moving southward, increasing the likelihood of snow accumulation at valley floors and even along coastal areas through mid-week.
Cold Temperature Warnings
In addition to snowfall, temperatures are forecast to plummet across the region. Overnight lows for Tuesday and Wednesday are projected to be particularly frigid:
• West Side: Low to mid-20s
• Coastal areas: Freezing temperatures
• California and areas east of the Cascades: Teens to single digits
Monitoring and Forecast Adjustments
Weather officials are closely monitoring the evolving situation and may issue additional advisories if models confirm consistent snowfall projections.
