Flood Advisory Issued for Rogue Valley and N. California

Medford, Oregon- A flood advisory is currently in effect for portions of northern California and southwest Oregon due to excessive rainfall. The advisory, issued by the National Weather Service, will remain active until 12:45 a.m. PST on Tuesday (EXPIRED).

Affected Areas

The advisory applies to areas in Siskiyou County, California, and the counties of southern Douglas, Jackson, and eastern Josephine in Oregon. Reports indicate that urban and small stream flooding is occurring, with low-lying areas and regions with poor drainage being particularly affected.

Observations and Conditions

As of 10:43 p.m. PST, heavy rain has been reported in the advisory area. The rainfall has led to ponding on highways and localized flooding in urban and low-lying regions. While additional rainfall is expected later tonight and into Tuesday, its intensity is forecast to be lower than earlier precipitation.

Impacted Locations

Specific locations experiencing flooding include:

Oregon: Medford, Ashland, Central Point, Eagle Point, Talent, Shady Cove, Jacksonville, Rogue River, and Gold Hill.

California: Fort Jones, Etna, Happy Camp, Butte Falls, Seiad Valley, Scott Bar, and several recreational areas, including Indian Scotty Campground and Jones Beach Picnic Area.

Precautionary Measures

Residents are urged to remain vigilant and avoid driving on flooded roads. Floodwaters may rise quickly and create hazardous conditions. Those in low-lying areas should monitor local conditions closely.
