Firefighters Halt Applegate Valley Wildfire at About an Acre

Applegate Valley- Fire season remains active in Jackson and Josephine counties, though cooler weather and recent rain have reduced the fire danger to low. Authorities urge residents to remain vigilant as conditions can still lead to fires, particularly in dry vegetation.

Yesterday, just after 1 p.m., local firefighters responded to a fire on Thompson Creek Road in coordination with the Applegate Valley Fire District. Crews quickly launched an aggressive initial attack, successfully containing the fire to just under an acre and a quarter.

Firefighters are currently working to mop up the area, while investigators examine the cause of the fire.

Residents are reminded to follow fire prevention regulations to minimize risk. Updated restrictions can be found at SWO Fire Public Fire Restrictions.
