Body of Missing Man Recovered at Diamond Lake

This is an update to our previous article regarding this tragic incident.


Diamond Lake, Oregon- On Friday, August 23, 2024, authorities recovered the body of Chimanbai Patel at Diamond Lake. The discovery was made at approximately 7:43 a.m. after a member of the public, walking their dog on the west side of the lake, observed the body in the water and promptly contacted 9-1-1.

Marine Deputies, who were already en route to continue the ongoing search for Patel, quickly responded to the scene. Upon arrival, they recovered the body and confirmed it to be that of Patel.

The Douglas County Medical Examiner’s Office has initiated a death investigation. Preliminary findings indicate there are no signs of foul play.

Patel’s family has been notified of the recovery.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, Diamond Lake Resort, United States Forest Service, Douglas County Search and Rescue, Douglas County Dive Team, and community members for their assistance in the search efforts.
