Daytime Lane Closures Expected on Oregon 66 Near Ashland

Ashland, Oregon– Drivers traveling along Oregon 66 east of Ashland should anticipate daytime lane closures and delays next week due to a chip seal project. The project is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, July 23, and is expected to last for approximately two days.

The work zone extends from Dead Indian Memorial Road (milepost 2) to near the east end of Emigrant Lake (milepost 8). To manage traffic through this area, flaggers and pilot cars will be in place.

Chip seal projects often lead to loose rock on the roadway. Motorists are advised to reduce speed, exercise caution, and maintain additional distance between vehicles to ensure safety.

Local residents are requested to wait at the end of their driveways for a pilot car before entering the highway. The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) will post signs at each driveway, and flaggers will be stationed at local intersections to manage traffic.

Beyond the initial chip seal work, intermittent daytime lane closures will continue through August 9 for striping and sign installation. Drivers are urged to remain vigilant and plan for potential delays during this period.
