Oregon Authorities Seek Public Assistance After High-Speed Chase

Bend, Oregon- On May 20, 2024, at approximately 9:15 am, a Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office deputy encountered a vehicle traveling north on Highway 97 near MP 143 at an estimated speed of 90mph. In an attempt to halt the vehicle, the deputy initiated a stop, prompting the vehicle to flee. Subsequently, a second deputy deployed “Stop Sticks” in an effort to mitigate potential risks posed by the speeding vehicle in the vicinity of Knott Road and Rickard Road.

It is reported that the suspect vehicle was successfully intercepted by the deployed “Stop Sticks,” potentially affecting one or more of its tires. Despite this intervention, the vehicle persisted in its reckless course, including dangerous maneuvers such as passing on the right, as it was last observed traveling northbound on 27th St. near Stevens Road.

The suspect vehicle, described as a newer model compact or mid-size SUV, blue in color, bearing an Arizona license plate similar to “CVM3211,” remained at large following the pursuit. Occupying the vehicle were an unknown female driver and an unknown male passenger.

Noteworthy features of the vehicle include low profile “racing” style tires/wheels. Authorities suspect that the vehicle may have been abandoned in the SE Bend area or east of Bend city limits.

The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the suspect vehicle or its occupants to contact Deschutes County 911 Dispatch non-emergency at 541-693-6911. Public cooperation is vital in assisting law enforcement efforts to apprehend the suspects and ensure community safety.
