Rogue Community College Joins League for Innovation in Community College Board

Medford, Oregon- Rogue Community College (RCC) has secured a significant milestone by gaining acceptance as a member of the League for Innovation in the Community College board. The League, an international nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering innovation within the community college landscape, has recognized RCC’s historical commitment to innovation and its President Randy Weber’s longstanding association with the League.

The decision to invite RCC into the League’s fold stemmed from a thorough review of the current membership dynamics. RCC’s exemplary track record in championing innovation, coupled with President Randy Weber’s previous engagement with the League through his tenure at another League board school, positioned RCC as a compelling candidate for membership.

The affirmation process involved the submission of an innovation report by RCC last fall, followed by a vote from current League board members, consisting of college chief executive officers (CEOs). The successful acceptance into the League for Innovation in the Community College board signifies a significant achievement for RCC.

Membership in the League offers a myriad of benefits for RCC, including enhanced reputation as an innovation leader, eligibility for grant opportunities from national organizations, and expanded professional development avenues for college staff seeking to implement innovative strategies at RCC.

President Randy Weber emphasized that board membership solidifies RCC’s commitment to nurturing a culture of innovation and necessitates continued investment in this ethos. Furthermore, joining the League enables RCC to glean insights from fellow board colleges, facilitating the exchange of ideas and best practices to better serve faculty, students, and the wider community.

RCC’s history of innovation, exemplified by initiatives such as the development of the proprietary legacy information system “Rogue Net” and pioneering program delivery strategies in Career and Technical Education (CTE), will now find a platform for broader dissemination and feedback within the League.

“A culture of innovation is critical in the foreseeable future for higher education. We must innovate to remain relevant in today’s educational landscape. This opportunity provides us access to other innovative and like-minded institutions to keep us sharp in that way,” said Weber.

Founded in 1968, the League for Innovation in the Community College has been a stalwart advocate for community college institutions for over five decades. Comprising CEOs from 18 influential community colleges and districts worldwide, the League’s board of directors provides strategic direction for its activities, which include conferences, publications, research projects, and various resources and services.
