
WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM WEDNESDAY TO 10 AM SATURDAY ABOVE 2500 FEET…
- WHAT…Heavy snow expected above 2500 feet. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches, with over a foot in the mountains of the Kalmiopsis wilderness. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph.
- WHERE…Elevations above 2500 feet in Josephine, Jackson, and Douglas, and eastern Coos and Curry counties, including Butte Falls, the Tiller-Trail Highway, Dead Indian Memorial Road, Toketee Falls, and portions of highways 62 and 140.
- WHEN…From 4 PM Wednesday to 10 AM Saturday.
- IMPACTS…Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.
- PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…Travel is strongly discouraged because of dangerous conditions. Do not detour during winter storms.
- If you must travel, keep tire chains, a flashlight, blankets, food, water, medications, and a fully charged phone with you.
- The safest place during a winter storm is indoors.
- A Winter Storm Warning means that severe winter weather is likely and poses a threat to life and property. Take protective action now.
