False Alarm at Hedrick Middle School Prompts Major Emergency Response

Medford, Oregon– At approximately 12:49p today, the Medford School District (MSD549C) reported an emergency activation alert of a school alarm at Hedrick Middle School.

Upon receiving the alert, Medford Police immediately initiated lockdown procedures, quickly securing all students behind locked doors within minutes. A thorough sweep of the school was conducted by the MPD and partnering agencies.

At 1:10p, Medford Police Department announced that no threat was found at Hedrick Middle School. The authorities have confirmed that it was a false alarm, resulting in the activation of the overall emergency response system.

MSD549C expressed gratitude towards the students for promptly following instructions and responding to staff guidance without delay. The coordinated response involved various agencies, including the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Phoenix Police, Medford Fire Department, and Mercy Flights, all of whom were dispatched to the campus to ensure a comprehensive approach to the situation.
