Medford, Oregon- As the east Medford “Mega-Corridor” project continues, the east end of Lone Pine Road, including its connection with Foothill Road, is set to undergo a temporary closure starting Monday, January 15, 2024. The closure, depicted in the attached map, is essential for the completion of the new stormwater system and water quality structure, according to City of Medford officials.
While this closure is in effect, access to Lone Pine Road from Brookdale Avenue and Springbrook Road will remain open, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity for residents in the vicinity. Anticipated to last until early February, the closure is a crucial phase of the broader $62 million Foothill Road project, dubbed the “Mega-Corridor”.
Financed in part by a $15 million Federal Build Grant awarded to Medford, the project aims to enhance Foothill Road from Delta Waters Road south to Hillcrest Road. The specific focus on Lone Pine Road underscores its importance within the comprehensive infrastructure overhaul.
Upon the slated reopening in early February, the community can look forward to an upgraded transportation network. The Foothill Road project, scheduled for completion at the end of 2026, promises a transformed two-lane road featuring two lanes in each direction. Additionally, the revamped road will incorporate turn lanes, sidewalks, bike lanes, and street lighting for improved safety and accessibility.
Residents and nearby businesses are encouraged to stay informed about the project’s progress and any potential schedule adjustments. Detailed project information, along with the current construction schedule (subject to change), can be accessed at foothillroadproject.org. This comprehensive resource ensures transparency and keeps the community abreast of the developments shaping their local infrastructure.
