


Ashland, Oregon- The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue (JCSO SAR) deployed a Snowcat yesterday afternoon to rescue a 98-year-old woman in dire need of medical assistance. The elderly woman was snowed in at her residence, located approximately 8 miles up Dead Indian Memorial Road outside of Ashland.
This marked the second consecutive mission in two days where the SAR Snow Response Team had to intervene to rescue individuals affected by the winter weather. The challenges posed by heavy snowfall necessitated the use of specialized equipment, showcasing the dedication of the SAR team to ensuring the safety of the community.
The elderly woman, facing isolation and medical concerns, was successfully reached and brought to safety by the skilled members of the JCSO SAR Snow Response Team. Their rapid and effective response highlights the importance of having such specialized teams in place, especially during adverse weather conditions.
In light of these recent incidents, the Search and Rescue team urges the community to plan ahead and be adequately prepared for the winter months. As heavy snowfall can lead to unforeseen emergencies, preparedness is crucial to ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone in the community.
