Medford Police Involved in “Complex” Investigation of Former Asante Employee

Medford, Oregon- In early December 2023, the Medford Police Department initiated an investigation following a report from Asante officials regarding a former employee suspected of involvement in the theft of controlled substances prescribed to patients. Authorities express concern about potential adverse effects on patient care, with the extent of impact yet to be determined.

Authorities say that numerous inquiries have flooded the MPD hotline from individuals seeking information on whether they or their family members may have been affected by the alleged actions of the former Asante employee. Asante has collaborated with MPD in identifying affected patients and is actively notifying them or their families, addressing the growing concerns within the community.

MPD says they remain committed to thoroughly investigating these claims, aiming to provide clarity on the situation and ensure the safety and well-being of affected patients.

“We would like to acknowledge the community’s concern with this case and ask for patience and understanding as this investigation is complex and ongoing. At this time, we are not releasing any further information and we will provide updates as we are able.” Remarked MPD in a press release.
