Teen Arrested After Deadly Speed-Related Oregon Crash

Washington County, Oregon– On Friday, December 8, 2023, at 9:07 p.m., the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single-vehicle crash on SW River Rd. Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver, 19-year-old Jesse Granados-Villegas, was traveling at a high speed when he lost control on a curve. The vehicle subsequently rolled over and crashed through a chain-link fence.

Granados-Villegas, the only adult occupant of the vehicle, sustained minor injuries in the accident and was transported to a local hospital for medical attention. Unfortunately, two juvenile passengers, who were related to the driver, also were riding inside the vehicle at the time of the incident.

Tragically, one of the juvenile passengers succumbed to injuries at the crash scene. The other is currently receiving treatment for severe injuries at a local hospital.

Post-hospitalization, Jesse Granados-Villegas faced legal consequences for the incident. He was arrested on charges of manslaughter in the second degree, reckless driving, and driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII) related to marijuana. The 19-year-old was subsequently lodged at the Washington County Jail pending further legal proceedings.

To ensure a thorough investigation, the Washington County Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team (CART) has taken charge of examining the circumstances surrounding the crash.

At this time, authorities are not releasing any additional names of the victims.

All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
