Oregon Launches Mobile App for Management of Benefits

Salem, Oregon- In a move toward increased accessibility and convenience, the State of Oregon has unveiled the Oregon ONE Mobile app, empowering residents to seamlessly manage medical, food, cash, and child care benefits through their mobile devices. The app, available for free on both Apple and Android platforms, is an official creation of the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS), with partial funding from the United States Department of Agriculture’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

To utilize the app’s features, individuals must first apply for benefits online, in person at a local office, or via phone. According to Nathan Singer, Director of the ODHS Oregon Eligibility Partnership, the goal is to provide multiple avenues for managing benefits, emphasizing inclusivity by offering the app in both English and Spanish.

Singer stated, “At ODHS, we are committed to meeting people in Oregon where they are with as many ways as possible to manage their benefits, check application status, and share needed documentation.” The Oregon ONE Mobile app allows users to manage benefits through various channels, including in-person, by mail, fax, telephone, online, and now through their mobile phones.

Key functionalities of the Oregon ONE Mobile app include creating and accessing ONE Online accounts, reporting changes to household information, uploading requested documents using a smartphone camera, checking application status, and receiving time-sensitive alerts. The app also facilitates viewing benefit issuance history and provides essential notifications.

Authorized Representatives for individuals with benefits can also leverage the app, streamlining the process for those in caregiving roles. The ODHS has released an interview with Director Singer on YouTube, along with a detailed video about the Oregon ONE Mobile app.

To manage benefits, residents can use the app, contact the ONE Customer Service Center by phone at 1-800-699-9075 (relay calls accepted), visit benefits.oregon.gov, or utilize in-person services at local offices. Assistance is available in multiple languages, and correspondence options include mail and fax.

For additional resources to meet basic needs, the ODHS recommends exploring food resources at needfood.oregon.gov, contacting the Aging and Disability Resource Connection of Oregon, dialing 2-1-1 or texting a zip code to 898-211, and reaching out to local Community Action Agencies.

With the launch of the Oregon ONE Mobile app, the state aims to enhance the accessibility and efficiency of benefit management, ultimately improving the overall well-being of its residents.
