Southern Oregon Murder Suspect Arrested in Redding California

Redding, California – Law enforcement agencies successfully apprehended 19-year-old Gauge Douglas James Main of Riddle, Oregon, a week after he fled the scene of a homicide. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in Oregon was notified of the arrest on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at 10:15 a.m.

Main, a suspect in the killing of 20-year-old Devonte Lovell Clark of Grants Pass and the injury of another man, was located at a residence in Redding, California. The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the United States Marshal’s Office, executed the arrest.

Following the homicide, Main had stolen a silver 2017 Honda Civic 4-door sedan, which was later recovered in Redding late last week. A felony warrant for Main’s arrest had been issued by Sheriff John Hanlin, who sought the aid of the United States Marshal’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Team in locating the suspect.

As of now, Main is in custody and has been booked into the Shasta County Jail.

At this time, authorities say no further information is available for release.

All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
