Police Continue Efforts to Arrest Suspect Accused of Killing Grants Pass Man

Detectives are intensifying efforts to locate Gauge Douglas James Main, a suspect wanted in connection with the homicide of 20-year-old Devonte Lovell Clark, Monday. A felony warrant has been issued for Main’s arrest, and authorities believe he is armed and dangerous.

The incident unfolded on Monday, November 20, 2023, around 11:30 p.m., when 9-1-1 dispatchers received reports of a shooting near Main Street / E. Third Avenue in Riddle, Oregon. Deputies responding to the scene discovered Clark deceased and a second victim, 29-year-old Killian Mavity of Grants Pass, with a gunshot wound to the arm.

Main fled the crime scene after the incident, making off with a stolen silver 2017 Honda Civic 4-door sedan bearing Oregon license plate 276PAT. The vehicle has since been recovered in Northern California, where Main was last known to be after the homicide.

Sheriff John Hanlin has enlisted the assistance of the United States Marshal’s Fugitive Taskforce to aid in Main’s apprehension. Detectives urge anyone with information leading to Main’s arrest to contact the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office at (541) 440-4471, referencing case #23-4651.

The Douglas County Major Crimes Team is spearheading the investigation, comprising members from the Sheriff’s Office, Roseburg Police Department, and Oregon State Police. They are working closely with the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office to ensure a thorough examination of the case.
