Shooting Claims Life of Grants Pass Man, Injures Another

A violent incident unfolded on Monday night in Riddle, resulting in the death of a Grants Pass man and leaving another wounded. The Douglas County Major Crimes Team is actively investigating the incident, with the primary focus on locating the suspect involved.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. on Monday, November 20, 2023, 9-1-1 dispatchers received reports of a shooting in the vicinity of Main Street and E. Third Avenue in Riddle. Deputies responded to the scene, discovering the lifeless body of 20-year-old Devonte Lovell Clark, a resident of Grants Pass.

Meanwhile, a second individual, identified as 29-year-old Killian Mavity from Grants Pass, suffered a gunshot wound to the arm. Emergency services transported Mavity to an undisclosed hospital for urgent medical attention.

Law enforcement authorities are actively seeking information regarding the whereabouts of 19-year-old Gauge Douglas James Main of Riddle. Main is suspected of involvement in the shooting and is considered armed and dangerous. Following the incident, Main reportedly fled the scene in a stolen silver 2017 Honda Civic 4-door sedan, bearing Oregon license plate 276PAT.

Individuals who spot the vehicle or Gauge Douglas James Main are urged to contact 9-1-1 immediately. Authorities have released a booking photo of Main in accordance with Oregon House Bill 3273, urging the public to assist in his apprehension.

The Douglas County Major Crimes Team, spearheaded by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, is leading the comprehensive investigation. This collaborative effort includes investigators from the Sheriff’s Office, Roseburg Police Department, and Oregon State Police, working closely with the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office.

As the investigation unfolds, local residents are encouraged to remain aware and cooperative with law enforcement, providing any relevant information that may aid in resolving this tragic incident.
