Central Point Man Dies in North Pacific Highway Crash

On Saturday, November 25, 2023, at 2:39 p.m., the Oregon State Police responded to a fatal vehicle versus motorcycle collision at the intersection of OR99 and Elk Street in Jackson County.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a Hyundai Elantra, operated by 38-year-old Melissa Dolmage of Medford, was stationary on Elk Street at the intersection with OR99. Then as it turned left onto OR99 southbound, it intersected with the path of a northbound Harley Davidson motorcycle, ridden by 69-year-old Kevin L. Norman of Central Point, resulting in a side-impact collision.

Regrettably, Mr. Norman was declared deceased at the scene.

Both the operator of the Hyundai, Melissa Dolmage, and her passenger, a male infant, emerged from the collision unhurt.

The Oregon State Police conducted a thorough on-scene investigation, causing a temporary closure of the highway for approximately 2.5 hours.

Authorities say that during this period, Melissa Dolmage, the driver of the Hyundai, cooperated fully with the investigators.

The Oregon State Police were supported by the Central Point Police Department, the Medford Police Department, and the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT).

The investigation into the exact circumstances surrounding the collision is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as they become available.
