ODF Working Cinnabar Gulch Fire West of Talent

Firefighters are currently on the front lines, engaging in an aggressive initial attack to contain the Cinnabar Gulch Fire. Additional firefighting resources, including more engines, have been deployed to bolster the response efforts. To combat the flames from above, both Type 3 and Type 2 helicopters have been mobilized to drop water onto the fire-stricken area.

In a recent development, an air attack plane has confirmed that the Kenney Meadows Fire is indeed the same incident as an earlier secondary report of a wildfire in the vicinity. Consequently, the fire has been reclassified as the Cinnabar Gulch Fire. Initial estimates place the size of the fire at approximately 1 acre.

As if this evening, this incident marks the sole confirmed fire on land protected by the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) arising from this storm event. As emergency personnel continue to work to bring the situation under control, residents and the community at large are urged to stay informed through official channels and adhere to any potential evacuation orders or safety advisories that may be issued. At this time, there are no reported injuries or evacuation notices.

Medford Alert will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.

8/20 Update: This blaze, originally substantial in size, has been successfully corralled at 1 acre. With containment lines now established for the entire perimeter and 70% of the area mopped up, firefighters are committed to eradicating any residual risk today.
