WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM TUESDAY BELOW 2000 FEET
WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM TUESDAY ABOVE 1500 FEET
- WHAT…For the Winter Weather Advisory above 2000 feet, snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 8 inches, highest amounts in the Cascade Foothills. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. For the Winter Storm Warning above 1500 feet, heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 8 inches, but locally more than a foot over the Umpqua Divide and in the Cascade foothills. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
- WHERE…Central Douglas County, Eastern Douglas County Foothills and Jackson County. For the Winter Weather Advisory, this includes Toketee Falls, Butte Falls and Prospect. This also includes Highway 138 east of Toketee Falls, and portions of Highways 62, 140, and 227. For the Winter Storm Warning, all areas previously mentioned as well as Camas Mountain, and the I- 5 passes south of Canyonville.
- IMPACTS…Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.
- ADDITIONAL DETAILS…There could be a brief burst of snow Sunday morning that lowers the snow level down to 1500 feet. Minor snow accumulations of an inch or so could occur down to 1500 feet.
- Travel is strongly discouraged because of dangerous conditions.
- If you must travel, keep tire chains, a flashlight, blankets, food, water, medications, and a fully charged phone with you.
- The safest place during a winter storm is indoors.
- A Winter Storm Warning means that severe winter weather is likely and poses a threat to life and property. Take protective action now.
