MEDFORD, Ore. (Apr. 30, 2026) — Pop culture retailer BoxLunch is preparing to open its first Southern Oregon location at the Rogue Valley Mall, adding another national brand to the region’s largest shopping center and expanding the company’s footprint in Oregon.
The company has confirmed through information listed on its website that the new store will be located on the upper level of the mall in space No. 2035, near Bath & Body Works. An official opening date has not yet been announced, and no details have been released regarding construction timelines, staffing or a grand opening celebration.
Medford Alert News has reached out to company representatives seeking additional information and will provide updates if a response is received.
The planned Medford location would mark the first BoxLunch store in Southern Oregon, giving Rogue Valley shoppers direct access to a brand that has grown rapidly in recent years through mall-based locations across the country. While BoxLunch already operates in larger Oregon markets, the Medford store would represent the company’s first entry into the Rogue Valley retail market.
Founded in 2015, BoxLunch is a specialty retailer focused on licensed pop culture merchandise, offering products tied to major entertainment franchises, television series, films, comic books, anime and gaming properties. Its stores typically carry apparel, backpacks, handbags, collectibles, toys, drinkware, home décor, jewelry and novelty gifts.
The chain has built much of its identity around fandom culture, catering to consumers interested in brands such as Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Pokémon, Studio Ghibli and other recognizable entertainment properties. Many stores also feature rotating seasonal merchandise and limited-edition collections tied to new film releases or cultural trends.
BoxLunch operates as a sister company to Hot Topic, the longtime mall retailer known for music-inspired and alternative fashion merchandise. Both brands are owned under the same corporate umbrella, but BoxLunch has targeted a broader customer base with family-friendly and mainstream entertainment offerings. Hot Topic currently operates a location on the second level of the Rogue Valley Mall, near the food court.
In addition to its retail strategy, the company has promoted a charitable giving program tied to purchases. BoxLunch says it partners with Feeding America, with qualifying transactions helping provide meals to people experiencing food insecurity. The company has made that mission a central part of its branding since launch.
The announcement is the latest sign of continued tenant movement at Rogue Valley Mall, which has seen stores open, close and relocate as shopping centers nationwide adapt to changing consumer habits. Despite challenges facing many enclosed malls in recent years, Rogue Valley Mall remains a key retail destination for Medford and surrounding communities, drawing shoppers from across Jackson, Josephine, Klamath, and Siskiyou counties.
A BoxLunch opening could also bring additional foot traffic to the mall’s upper level, particularly among younger shoppers and collectors seeking merchandise not widely available in other stores. Similar BoxLunch locations in other markets often attract customers looking for exclusive items and franchise-branded apparel.
No hiring announcements have yet been posted publicly for the Medford store, though new retail openings typically create positions in management, sales and stock operations ahead of launch.
For now, shoppers visiting Rogue Valley Mall can expect the new store to take shape in the space near Bath & Body Works as preparations continue. Further details on an opening timeline are expected once the company formally announces the Medford launch.
