  • WHAT…For the Winter Storm Warning above 1500 feet, heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 8 inches, with up 12 inches possible over higher elevations. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph over higher terrain. For the Winter Weather Advisory at elevations between 500 feet and 1500 feet, snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches.
  • WHERE…All areas in Jackson, Josephine, and Douglas Counties above 500 feet will experience some degree of winter weather impacts. For the Winter Storm Warning, this includes lower elevation I-5 passes, Highways 227 and 42, and the foothills.
  • WHEN…For the Winter Storm Warning, from 10 AM Tuesday to 10 AM PST Wednesday. For the Winter Weather Advisory, from 4 PM Tuesday to 10 AM PST Wednesday.
  • IMPACTS…Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.
  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Snow levels start at 4000 to 5000 feet Monday night, lowering to 1500 to 2000 feet (from north to south) late Tuesday morning and afternoon. They lower further to 500 feet Tuesday evening with potential winter impacts at valley floors through Wednesday morning.
  • Travel is strongly discouraged because of dangerous conditions.
  • If you must travel, keep tire chains, a flashlight, blankets, food, water, medications, and a fully charged phone with you.
  • The safest place during a winter storm is indoors.
  • A Winter Storm Warning means that severe winter weather is likely and poses a threat to life and property. Take protective action now.
