WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY MORNING THROUGH TUESDAY AFTERNOON ABOVE 1500 FEET
- WHAT…Heavy snow possible above 1500 feet. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches possible over populated and traveled areas with up to 12 inches possible over high remote terrain. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph over high exposed terrain.
- WHERE…Central Douglas County, Eastern Curry County and Josephine County and Jackson County. This includes the lower passes along I-5, highway 277, highway 42 and the foothills within Jackson, Josephine, Eastern Curry and Douglas Counties.
- WHEN…From Monday morning through Tuesday afternoon.
- IMPACTS…Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions will likely impact the morning commute.
- ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Snow is expected on the valley floors. Most of the snow will fall around Monday night along and behind the second cold front.
- Stock emergency kit with tire chains, flashlight, batteries, blankets, food, water, and medications.
- The safest place during a winter storm is indoors.
- Plan now to avoid traveling during the storm.
- A Winter Storm Watch means there is potential for significant snow accumulations that may create dangerous travel.
