Multiple Medford Police (MPD) units were dispatched to an area of the Liberty Park neighborhood around 10p tonight for a reported assault.

ESCO 911 dispatchers received a number of calls at approximately 9:54p stating a group of about eight individuals were in a dispute with a party on the 400 block of Boardman Street. While on the 911 phone with a caller, a ECSO dispatcher relayed that they heard what was believed to be a gunshot. A number of MPD units were scrambled to the area Code 3.

Upon arrival, officers immediately began searching for at least one suspect who reportedly fled after the incident. Witnesses told MPD that this incident may have started from an earlier altercation, between the individuals, that took place at a downtown Medford nightclub tonight.

Medford Fire and Mercy were also sent to the neighborhood. There is currently one victim who suffered a wound on his head. He was conscious and alert as Mercy transported him to a nearby trauma center.

Authorities do not believe his injuries to be life threatening.

Officials could not confirm that the incident was a shooting. At this time it is being investigated and classified as an assault.

Medford Police remarked, “There is no believed threat to the public as a result of this incident.”

Medford Alert will continue to monitor this situation and provide updates as they become available.
