Last night, after an 8+ hour standoff, fugitive Benjamin Foster attempted to commit suicide by shooting himself.
Some local media reported he had died on scene. However, he was alive when SWAT approached him, according to GPPD officials.
He was immediately taken into custody and placed on an awaiting stretcher for medical care. Foster was then transferred to Three Rivers Medical Center in critical condition. Approximately an hour later, Grants Pass Police announced he had succumbed to his injuries and died.
The following video was provided to Medford Alert by Jennifer Morse-Yost, it shows Foster being taken from the house on a stretcher. Viewer discretion is advised.
Later today, the Grants Pass Police Department is expected to have a news conference. We also expect to hear from investigators if Foster had any possible connection to recent heinous crimes near Wolf Creek.
Medford Alert will continue to provide updates as they become available.
