Medford Police wants to remind the public to stay safe while shopping this holiday season. MPD has given a few tips to remember while you’re checking out the sales.
• Protect your purse or wallet. Do not leave it unattended in your cart. Thieves often work in pairs or groups, with one person working to distract you for even just a split second.
• Black Friday is a targeted environment for hackers looking to steal your data. Monitor your statements and online banking constantly, even well after Black Friday.
• Hide your packages. Keep gifts and packages in the trunk or hidden from view in the interior of the car. Make sure you do this before you leave one parking lot and drive to another.
• Parking lots will be packed. Use caution when backing out and look out for pedestrians who aren’t paying attention. Be attentive when walking to your car.
• Be aware of your surroundings. Listen to your “Spidey-sense.” If something doesn’t feel right make a mental note, take a picture with your cellphone or call the police.
Police want everyone to have safe and enjoyable shopping experiences, this holiday season.
