Earlier today, November 18, 2022, a van carrying members of the Oregon Tech (OIT) cross-country team was involved in a serious accident in Gainesville, Florida.
The team was on its way back from the NAIA National Championships.
WCJB reports that 10 patients were hospitalized in the crash that also closed Interstate 75 for several hours.
OIT asks the public to provide emotional support to student-athletes, the coaching staff, and their families during this difficult time.
No additional details were released by Oregon Tech officials at this time.
OIT reports that they will provide an update on the situation once additional information is received.
UPDATE: Oregon Tech officials state that all students-athletes injured in the crash have been treated and released. The following is the memo provided by the Oregon Tech President.
