Overdose deaths and injuries from fentanyl and other opiates have hit epidemic proportions in Oregon. In an effort to combat this, the Oregon State Police would like to remind the public of a unique service offered to parents/guardians of minors.
The Anonymous Analysis Program was established to assist parents/guardians who find suspected drugs in the possession of their children. Parents/guardians may submit suspected drugs by delivering the item(s) directly to their local OSP Forensic Lab or OSP Worksite. The item(s) will be tested for the presence of controlled substances and then destroyed. Testing is free and confidential, and the results will not be used for enforcement purposes. The findings will be reported verbally to the submitting OSP Worksite representative or directly to the parent/guardian who made the request.

WARNING: Handling suspected drugs is extremely hazardous, especially with the prevalence of fentanyl and fentanyl derivatives. Please remember to always protect yourself by wearing nitrile gloves, manipulating the material as little as possible, packaging the material in an additional plastic bag, and washing your hands with soap and water afterward. It is also best practice to wear a mask when handling suspected drugs, especially powders.
