CENTRAL POINT, Ore. (Oct. 12, 2026) — Amazon has confirmed that its delivery station in Central Point will continue operating normally despite the planned departure of a delivery contractor that is expected to eliminate 170 jobs in December.
In a statement provided directly to Medford Alert News, Amazon spokesperson Austin Stowe confirmed that Rainforest Routes LLC has decided to leave the company’s Delivery Service Partner (DSP) program. Amazon said it is working to connect affected employees with other local delivery contractors that may have available positions.
“Rainforest Routes LLC has decided to exit the Delivery Service Partner program and we’re working to connect their impacted employees with other DSPs in the area who may have openings,” Stowe said.
“The Medford Delivery Station, WOR1, continues to operate as usual and we don’t expect any impact for customers.”
The response follows an Oct. 10 report by Medford Alert News detailing Rainforest Routes’ plans to permanently cease operations at 601 Federal Way in Central Point on Dec. 7.
According to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act notice filed with the state of Oregon on Oct. 6, the closure will affect 170 employees, including 163 delivery associates, three managers and four administrative workers.
The planned departure comes just over two years after construction was completed on the Amazon-owned facility in June 2024.
The 87,750-square-foot building includes a 35,589-square-foot covered area designed for staging delivery vehicles and packages. The facility serves as part of Amazon’s regional delivery network in Southern Oregon.
While the state filing identified the closure as permanent, Amazon’s latest statement clarifies that the departure involves Rainforest Routes’ contracted delivery operations rather than the closure of Amazon’s delivery station itself.
Amazon operates its Delivery Service Partner program through independent businesses that employ drivers responsible for delivering packages to customers.
“Delivery drivers are employed by Delivery Service Partners, not by Amazon,” Stowe said.
Amazon’s response addresses questions about the potential impact on package deliveries throughout the Medford metro area. The company said it does not anticipate any disruption to customers as Rainforest Routes prepares to exit the program.
However, Amazon did not identify which delivery contractors may assume routes currently operated by Rainforest Routes or specify how many of the 170 affected employees could secure positions with other delivery partners.
The company’s statement also did not provide additional information about why Rainforest Routes decided to leave the program.
Rainforest Routes maintains additional operations in Tualatin, Oregon. It remains unclear whether the company’s departure from Amazon’s Delivery Service Partner program will affect those operations.
The latest information provides clarification for local customers and employees following the initial announcement, confirming that Amazon intends to maintain normal operations at its Central Point delivery station despite the departure of one of its contracted delivery providers.
