MEDFORD, Ore. (Oct. 11, 2026) — Firefighters responded to a second-alarm structure fire Sunday evening at The Loring property, located at 2250 Biddle Road in north Medford.
According to Medford Fire, crews responded to the fire at approximately 9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11.
Firefighters were able to knock down the flames and subsequently began mop-up operations while evaluating the structure for damage.
One person was transported to a hospital following the incident. The individual’s condition and the circumstances surrounding the hospitalization were not immediately available.
Medford police officers and personnel from Jackson County Fire District also responded to the scene to assist with the incident.

Fire investigators remained at the property Sunday night working to determine what caused the blaze.
The fire comes just four days after the Medford City Council approved an ordinance authorizing the city to pursue eminent domain proceedings involving The Loring property.
During its Oct. 7 meeting, the council also directed city staff to arrange for private security personnel to provide around-the-clock security at the property for 90 days, along with additional measures to secure the building.
It was not immediately clear whether those security measures had been implemented before Sunday’s fire.
The extent of the damage to the structure was not immediately known.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
