KLAMATH COUNTY, Ore. (Jul. 2, 2026) — A 74-year-old Bonanza man was killed Tuesday afternoon after his motorcycle crashed along Highway 140 in Klamath County, according to the Oregon State Police.
Troopers responded to the single-vehicle crash at approximately 4:18 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, near milepost 30 on Highway 140.
A preliminary investigation found that a black Honda motorcycle operated by Wesley Carl Lawson, 74, of Bonanza, was traveling eastbound near Kingfisher Drive when it left the roadway for an unknown reason and crashed on the eastbound shoulder.
Lawson was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the motorcycle leaving the roadway remains under investigation.
Highway 140 was impacted for about one hour while investigators examined the crash scene.
The Oregon State Police was assisted by the Bonanza Fire Department, Life Flight and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
The investigation was conducted by the Oregon State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit, a specialized team responsible for investigating fatal and critical-injury crashes on Oregon highways using advanced crash reconstruction techniques.
