Gunfire Erupts in Klamath County; Two Arrested, Third Suspect Still on the Run

KLAMATH COUNTY, Ore. (Jul. 1, 2026) — Two people have been arrested on attempted murder charges and a third suspect remains at large following a shooting Tuesday evening in eastern Klamath County, authorities said.

According to the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 8:19 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, to the 22000 block of Sprague River Road after receiving reports that two individuals had shot one another.

When deputies arrived, 40-year-old Jesse Leese was found with a single gunshot wound and was transported to Sky Lakes Medical Center for treatment. A second individual, 46-year-old Summer Swager, was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries and was later released.

Due to the nature of the incident, the Klamath County Major Crime Team was activated to conduct the investigation.

As a result of the investigation, authorities said Swager and 46-year-old Adam Keenan were arrested and lodged at the Klamath County Jail on charges of attempted murder.

Investigators said one additional suspect remains outstanding as the investigation continues.

The sheriff’s office said the shooting was an isolated incident involving individuals known to one another and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The Klamath County Major Crime Team is comprised of the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office, Klamath Falls Police Department, Oregon State Police, and the Klamath County District Attorney’s Office.
