MEDFORD, Ore. (Jun. 28, 2026) — A Cave Junction man has been sentenced to more than four years in prison after a Jackson County jury convicted him of delivering methamphetamine, possessing the drug and illegally possessing a firearm.
The Jackson County District Attorney’s Office announced that Lester Gregory Monk, 69, was convicted June 10 following a one-day jury trial on charges of unlawful delivery of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of methamphetamine and felon in possession of a firearm.
Jurors also found that the delivery offense involved 100 grams or more of a substance containing methamphetamine, an enhancement factor that increased the seriousness of the offense.
On June 24, Jackson County Circuit Court Judge Laura Cromwell sentenced Monk to a total of 56 months in prison, followed by three years of post-prison supervision. Prosecutors had recommended a 78-month prison sentence.
The charges stemmed from an investigation by the Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement (MADGE) team. Detectives executed a search warrant at a residence where Monk was contacted and seized nearly 500 grams — just over one pound — of methamphetamine, along with large amounts of cash, drug delivery paraphernalia and a firearm.
According to prosecutors, Monk, a previously convicted felon, was prohibited from possessing a firearm. Authorities said he was found with nearly 500 grams of methamphetamine at the time of his arrest.
The Jackson County District Attorney’s Office credited MADGE detectives for their work and professionalism during the investigation.
Deputy District Attorney Alicia Wilson prosecuted the case.
