BEND, Ore. (Jun. 1, 2026) — A Wisconsin woman was arrested Friday night after allegedly shooting a Texas man during a family dispute that escalated into violence in Bend, authorities said.
Officers with the Bend Police Department responded at approximately 11:53 p.m. May 29 to the 300 block of Southwest Century Drive after receiving a report that a man had been shot in the stomach.
Investigators determined that a 32-year-old Texas man had been involved in a verbal altercation with a family member prior to the shooting. Following the dispute, the Texas man allegedly struck a 49-year-old Wisconsin man with a Ford F-350 pickup truck, according to police.
Authorities said the injured man’s wife, 35-year-old Karlina Cooper of Wisconsin, then allegedly shot the Texas man. A 15-year-old family member was present at the time of the shooting.
Both the Texas man, who suffered a gunshot wound, and the Wisconsin man struck by the vehicle were transported to St. Charles Medical Center with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Cooper was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon. She was booked into the Deschutes County Jail.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Bend Police thanked the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office and Bend Fire for assisting at the scene.
All suspects are believed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
