Firefighters Battle 15+ Acre Grass Fire Along Colestin Road Near Ashland

NEAR ASHLAND, Ore. (Jun. 1, 2026) — Firefighters with the Oregon Department of Forestry are actively battling a grass fire in the 2000 block of Colestin Road south of Ashland, according to fire officials.

The fire was reported Monday and is currently estimated at approximately 10 acres. Crews remain on scene conducting fire suppression operations in an effort to contain the blaze and prevent further spread.

The Oregon Department of Forestry said firefighters are actively engaged on the fire line. Additional resources have been ordered to support suppression efforts, including a helicopter from CAL FIRE and a bulldozer to assist with containment operations.

The cause of the fire has not been released, and no information regarding structures threatened, evacuations, or injuries was immediately available.

Multiple engines and crews continue working to strengthen control lines.

Air resources including helicopters, air tankers, and Air Attack remain overhead, and a dozer is assisting with containment efforts.
