Oregon’s Largest Municipal Pickleball Complex Nears Completion in NW Medford

MEDFORD, Ore. (May. 16, 2026) — A new pickleball complex at northwest Medford’s Howard Memorial Sports Park is nearing completion and is expected to become the largest municipal pickleball facility in Oregon, city officials and project partners announced.

The facility, known as The Courts by Lithia & Driveway, is located adjacent to the Rogue X and includes 19 lighted courts designed for recreational and competitive play. The $2 million project began construction in October 2025 and is intended to address growing demand for pickleball in Southern Oregon while expanding Medford’s ability to host regional and national tournaments.

Officials said the courts will be open to the public free of charge except during tournaments or league play that may require fees.

An opening celebration is scheduled for June 5 at 12:30 p.m. alongside the annual spring tournament hosted by the Southern Oregon Pickleball Association.

Funding for the project came through a public-private partnership that included more than $900,000 raised by the association through fundraising efforts and naming-rights support from Lithia Motors, Inc.. Additional funding was provided by Howard Memorial Sports Park, Inc., and the City of Medford.

The pickleball complex is part of a broader expansion at the sports park. Four sand volleyball courts are expected to be completed in June, while a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial will be dedicated on Memorial Day at 1:30 p.m.

Project officials also said a neighborhood playground and picnic area are currently in advanced stages of design and engineering.
