Medford Police Arrest Former Trade Group CEO on Theft, Fraud Charges

MEDFORD, Ore. (Feb. 26, 2026) — The former chief executive officer of the Builder’s Association of Southern Oregon has been arrested following a months-long investigation into allegations he embezzled approximately $100,000 from the organization, authorities said.

The investigation began in October 2025, when representatives from the association contacted the Medford Police Department to report a potential employee theft. Officials alleged that former CEO Bradley Bennington had misappropriated a significant amount of money from the organization over several years.

Police said detectives were provided the findings of a financial forensic audit commissioned by the association. After reviewing the audit, investigators launched an independent inquiry that included issuing numerous subpoenas to multiple banking institutions.

According to police, detectives ultimately determined that about $100,000 had been embezzled. Based on the evidence gathered, investigators concluded that criminal activity had occurred and briefed the case to the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office for review.

On Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, Medford police detectives contacted Bennington and lodged him at the Jackson County Jail.

He faces five counts of aggravated theft in the first degree, two counts of first-degree theft, three felony counts of fraudulent use of a credit card and four misdemeanor counts of fraudulent use of a credit card.

Court records were not immediately available Thursday evening to indicate whether Bennington had retained an attorney. It was not immediately clear when he would make his first court appearance.

The investigation remains ongoing.
