Retired Medford Police K9 Narc Dies After Years of Service

MEDFORD, Ore. (Jan. 21, 2026) — Retired Medford Police K9 Narc, who played a key role in drug enforcement efforts across Southern Oregon during a seven-year career, died Jan. 16, authorities said.

Narc served alongside his handler, Detective Rob Havice, from 2014 to 2021. He was initially assigned to patrol before joining the Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement (MADGE) unit, where he assisted in numerous investigations and major drug seizures throughout the region.

During his career, Narc completed 583 deployments and was credited with helping locate more than 112 pounds of methamphetamine, 2,725 pounds of marijuana and approximately 45,000 fentanyl pills. He also logged more than 1,600 hours of training, according to the department.

Colleagues described Narc as having a strong work ethic and independent spirit, noting he was happiest while working alongside officers to protect the community.

“We are grateful for Narc’s years of dedicated service and the lasting impact he made alongside Detective Havice,” the department said in a statement. “Please join us in honoring a loyal partner’s service to Medford.”
