Deschutes County Deputies Arrest Suspect After Restaurant Shooting

SISTERS, Ore. (Dec. 16, 2025) — A workplace dispute sparked a shooting at a Sisters restaurant Tuesday morning, prompting a brief police pursuit that ended with the suspect’s arrest along Highway 20 between Sisters and Bend.

The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office said the incident involved a former colleague and occurred at Spoons Restaurant. Deputies were dispatched at 8:19 a.m. following reports of a shooting.

According to investigators, 31-year-old Kristopher Kirkpatrick entered the restaurant posing as a customer before confronting the victim. Kirkpatrick fired a Saber pistol, which shoots pepper balls and rubber bullets, at point-blank range in the victim’s face. He then chased the victim through the restaurant, discharging additional rounds.

Kirkpatrick fled the scene in a truck, leading deputies on a pursuit along Highway 20. The chase ended near Plainview Road when deputies used a Pursuit Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver to stop the vehicle. Kirkpatrick was taken into custody without further incident.

The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries, including cuts, bruising, and swelling to the face and body, and was transported to St. Charles-Bend for evaluation. Authorities noted that although the ammunition was non-lethal, the weapon can cause serious harm, particularly when fired at close range or aimed at sensitive areas such as the face.

Detectives said Kirkpatrick’s actions indicated an intent to seriously harm the victim. No one else was injured, and authorities believe the victim was the sole target. The investigation remains ongoing.
