Southbound I-5 Lanes Closed After Crash Near Medford Viaduct

MEDFORD, Ore. (Dec 17, 2025) — A crash reported early Wednesday has shut down all southbound lanes of Interstate 5 just north of the Viaduct in central Medford, ODOT reports.

The crash was reported at approximately 12:21 a.m. The Oregon Department of Transportation, Oregon State Police, Medford Police, Medford Fire Department and Mercy Flights were all dispatched to the scene.

Details about the number of vehicles involved or whether there were any injuries were not immediately available. Motorists are urged to use alternate routes while emergency crews respond and work to clear the roadway. There was no immediate estimate for when southbound lanes would reopen.

UPDATE: All lanes have reopened after authorities cleared the previous crash.
