Medford, Oregon- The Medford Police Department’s Domestic Violence Task Force joined law enforcement agencies across the country on Wednesday in a coordinated effort to locate and arrest individuals wanted on family-violence-related charges.
During the Jackson County portion of the nationwide sweep, officers made 12 arrests on a variety of charges connected to domestic and family violence.
According to Medford Police, the operation involved 22 law enforcement personnel and three victim advocates who assisted with outreach and victim services. Officers attempted service on 48 warrants, conducted 21 no-contact order follow-ups, and made a dozen successful arrests during the one-day initiative.
“This nationwide operation not only raises awareness of the ongoing issue of domestic and family violence, but also reinforces that offenders will be held accountable for their actions,” Police said in a statement.
The department emphasized its continued commitment to supporting victims and pursuing justice. MPD employs a full-time Domestic Violence Officer and partners with Community Works, which provides an in-house Domestic Violence Advocate to ensure victims receive protection and resources.
Medford Police also thanked Jackson County Parole and Probation and Community Works for their assistance in the operation.
The sweep was part of a national effort during Domestic Violence Awareness Month to bring attention to the issue and increase accountability for offenders.
