Medford, Oregon- Jackson County Emergency Management is warning residents about a phishing scam in which fraudulent emails are being sent under the name “Jackson Alerts.”
Officials said the emails falsely claim recipients’ Jackson Alerts accounts will be deleted within 48 hours unless they click a link to confirm. The county emphasized that the message did not originate from its agency.
“If you receive this email, mark it as phishing in your inbox and do not respond,” the agency said in a statement Monday.
County officials are urging residents to follow standard phishing precautions, including avoiding suspicious links or attachments, not sharing personal or financial information, and verifying requests directly through official phone numbers or websites rather than the contact details provided in a questionable message.
Phishing attempts can also be reported by flagging them in email inboxes, officials said.
The county said it is monitoring the situation and will provide further updates if needed.
