Starbucks to Close 13 Oregon Stores, Including Two in Medford

Medford, Oregon- Starbucks will permanently close 13 stores across Oregon, including two in Medford, as part of a national restructuring plan that will shutter hundreds of underperforming locations across the United States and abroad.

In Medford, the affected stores are located at 2372 W. Main St. and 1730 Delta Waters Rd. The closures will also impact the Ashland store at 512 Walker Ave. and the Grants Pass store at 120 NE Hillcrest Dr., further reducing the company’s presence in southern Oregon.

Statewide, additional closures are planned in Coos Bay, Eugene, Springfield, Tillamook, Wood Village and Portland. Seven Portland locations will be eliminated, including stores on Southwest 5th and 6th avenues, West Burnside, East Burnside and Southwest Capitol Highway.

Nationally, Starbucks’ restructuring will result in the closure of hundreds of company-operated stores, particularly those that did not meet performance targets or lacked long-term growth potential. The company expects its North American store count to fall by about 1% in fiscal 2025, to roughly 18,300 locations, down from 18,734 at the end of June.

The company is also cutting about 900 corporate and support positions as part of the $1 billion restructuring effort. Costs tied to store closures include lease terminations, severance, and other transition expenses.

While reducing its footprint this year, Starbucks plans to redesign or update more than 1,000 existing stores to improve efficiency and customer experience. Company leaders say store expansion will resume in fiscal year 2026.

For Medford, the closures mark the loss of two long-established cafés that have served commuters, travelers and local neighborhoods. The West Main Street store has been a steady fixture on the city’s west side, while the Delta Waters Road location has long catered to traffic near Interstate 5 on the cities northeast side.

The company has not announced final closing dates for the Oregon stores, though some employees were notified this week and will have opportunities to transfer to nearby locations.

Medford Alert News was able to confirm that both Medford locations will close 7:00p on September 27, 2025.
