Eugene, Oregon- A Eugene couple has been arrested and charged in federal court with multiple counts related to child sex trafficking and prostitution across Oregon and Washington, federal prosecutors announced Thursday.
Anthony D’Montrez Crawford, 29, and Kaytlynn Ann Crawford, also known as Kaytlynn Alderman, 27, were taken into custody and charged by criminal complaint with sex trafficking of children by force, fraud or coercion, transportation for prostitution, persuading or coercing travel to engage in prostitution, use of an interstate facility to coerce a minor, transportation of a minor for prostitution, and conspiracy.
According to court documents, Crawford forced individuals to engage in prostitution in Eugene and Springfield, advertising online and arranging prices with customers. Prosecutors said he rented hotel rooms, transported victims in rental cars to cities including Portland, and collected proceeds through intimidation, threats, and violence.
Investigators said Alderman played a key role in facilitating the operation. She allegedly rented vehicles for Crawford, allowed hotel bills to be paid with her bank card, and received customer payments through a CashApp account in her name.
The FBI’s Seattle field office said it rescued a minor victim who was forced into prostitution in Seattle, Portland, and the Eugene-Springfield area. Authorities also identified an adult victim coerced into prostitution in Portland and Lane County.
Crawford and Alderman made their first federal court appearances Thursday. A judge ordered Crawford held in custody pending further proceedings, while Alderman was released.
The FBI is continuing its investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph Huynh is prosecuting the case.
The charges are part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide Justice Department initiative launched in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse by coordinating federal, state and local resources to find offenders and rescue victims.
All suspects are believed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
