Multiple Crews Respond to Grass Fire Near Phoenix

Phoenix, Oregon- Multiple fire units are responding to a vegetation fire estimated at 3 to 4 acres near Houston Road in Jackson County, local authorities reported Saturday afternoon.

The fire, which was first reported near Phoenix, is burning in grassland and is being monitored closely by emergency crews.

EXPIRED/LIFTED: Following areas: PHX-012, PHX-016, PHX-014 in Phoenix


Medford Alert is tracking the situation and will continue to provide updates as they become available.

Authorities are urging residents and travelers to avoid the area and give firefighters ample space to operate.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.

7:10P Update: Firefighting efforts have successfully halted forward progression of the fire and allowed two evacuation zones to be dropped to Level 1. Further information is expected from officials later this evening.

The Medford Fire Department (MFD) released the following information:

Crews have stopped forward progress of the vegetation fire near Houston and Rose Streets in Phoenix. Air support has been canceled.

More than 20 apparatuses remain in the area to reinforce containment and monitor for flare-ups.

The fire is now fully contained, according to MFD officials.


6/8/25 Update: Medford Fire Department reports the fire was stopped at 35.3 acres. All evacuation notices have been lifted.
